Qalali barn owners plead for help, cattle farmers’ request to provide power and water falls on deaf ears

A number of cattle farmers in Qalali are upset over the negligence from the part of authorities leaving the barns without power or electricity.

The farmers said they are willing to register with the commercial offices and pay fees, urging the authorities to provide help to correct their situations.

Speaking to Tribune, a livestock trader Abdullah Bouzaboon said, “It costs up to BD260 to buy water from outside while the diesel costs to run the generator is nearly BD150 a month.”

Mr Abdullah said that though the government offered a generator it stopped working after two months. “It has been five years now without any support. How could the authorities expect us to run the barn without any support?”

Mr Abdullah said that no-one can afford to ignore the role played by cattle farmers as they contribute towards the food security of the country.
