Security key factor for economic development: HRH Premier

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa stressed the importance of security and stability as a pre-requisite in fast-tracking economic development and boosting citizens’ welfare in the Kingdom. Prince Khalifa also underlined the key role played by the financial and banking institutions in Bahrain in invigorating the national economy as an effective and influential investment element. “They were a key tributary in supporting the government’s trend in diversifying sources of revenues.”
Speaking in a meeting with members of the royal family and senior officials at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, HRH the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of steering Bahrain clear of the pitfalls of the global economic and financial situation.
Commenting on the role of auditing bodies, he said that they had a vital role in supporting the government’s strategy in protecting public money. He emphasised the government’s trend in promoting internal auditing to rationalise expenditure. On the occasion, he also lauded the role of the National Audit Office.
The officials extended to him heartfelt congratulations on International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s award, which is considered as a new international recognition of his development efforts and achievements for the best interest of Bahrain and its people.
HRH the Premier said that the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award by the ITU and all previous prizes were an honour for all Bahraini people. He also pointed out that the march of accomplishments would continue unabated.
In the meeting, HRH Premier urged to protect archaeological artefacts for their importance in documenting the history. “Keep a record of national events and achievements to highlight Bahrain’s bright history,” he urged.
