MP wants beaches to be a favourite hangout
Manama
Taking up the cudgels for the citizens’ recreational needs, MP Hamad Al Dossery remarked that beaches in the Kingdom along the coasts must remain open, as they were the sole outlets for people to unwind themselves.
"The Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning should seek to develop a comprehensive plan to keep the coast remain open to citizens and residents. The Ministry should also develop a plan for the land acquisition to expand the areas," Al Dossery suggested.
He said that the Ministry had promised to acquire some land for the coastal villages to provide them with recreational needs as well as the presence of some games for children. “It will have a small harbour from which sailors can get access to the sea.”
Talking about the privation of these lands, Al Dossery said, "I do not want to turn the coasts in Bahrain to private properties, but we want to all the coasts of the Kingdom remain open to the citizens".
He commented: "The statements of the Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning about transferring sailors from Hamala to the Demistan port are not accepted by the sailors. There are many elderly sailors, who can not move from their area to Demistan, and that the presence of their boats in Hamala will help them significantly in the entry and exit from the sea with ease."
He opined that beaches should be developed to fit the needs of citizens and residents while also investing in Bahrain's geographical location to promote the tourism industry and attract investors.
