Efforts in full to boost private aviation sector
The old airport building will be turned into a facility dedicated to private aviation, Telecommunications and Transportation Minister Kamal Ahmed told Tribune.
The minister said that the project will ensure that the old airport building would function as a private air terminal.
According to Mr Ahmed, the project will be purely commercial. “It will separate the terminal building for ordinary passengers and private aviation building. “The new building will provide all services related to private aviation including the provision of luxury cars for transportation.”
A foreign company has been chosen to work on the project whose main purpose is to restore the terminal building, he added.
The Telecommunication and Transportation Ministry is headquartered in the old airport building opened in 1961, ten years before the Kingdom’s independence.
