Bahrain face Vietnam, Kingdom hope to makes progress into the final eight in this last-16 clash at Patriot Stadium
Bahrain will look to reach the football quarter-finals in the 18th Asian Games, being held in Jakarta/ Palembang, today when they take on Vietnam at Patriot Stadium.
This last-16 clash is set for 3.30pm (Bahrain time), when the nationals hope to make progress into the competition’s final eight and stay on course towards securing a medal at the games.
Should Bahrain win this match, they will face either Palestine or Syria, who face off in another last-16 round game today. The team, led by Tunisian coach Samir Ben Chamam, made an uphill performance since their first match, which they lost 6-0 to South Korea before holding Kyrgyzstan to a 2-2 draw, then defeated Malaysia 3-2 in the group stage decider to snatch one of the best thirdplace tickets into the last 16 round with 4 points from three matches.
Bahrain, who had finalized their preparations yesterday, look to repeat their victory in the International Championship in Indonesia for under-21 years and preparation for and the next Asian Cup for under-23 in 2020, which also serves as qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
