The making of Ironman
An Indian expat marathon runner, who represented Bahrain at the Maastricht Netherlands Iron Man Championship in Netherlands, is now undergoing training to take part in the Bahrain Ironman Championship later this year.
Mohammed Javeed, a resident of the Kingdom for the past 37 years, also plans to compete in the Ironman Competition that will be held in Frankfurt, Germany. A hospitality professional, Javeed’s passion truly lies in athletics and he has participated in many races locally and internationally.
Speaking to Tribune, he said, “I have participated in many races and Ironman competition both nationally and internationally representing the Kingdom of Bahrain. I started running since high school and have continued since then, where I trained almost every day after work hours which requires a lot of hard work and discipline. “It has been a remarkably enduring and challenging journey but the credit goes to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who has inspired me.
“I have participated in four Ironman Championships journey internationally. The first ironman journey was in South Africa in the year 2015, the second in Malaysia in the year 2016, the third in France in 2017 and fourth in the Netherlands this year.
