Bahrain Embassy urges UK to keep protesters under control

Bahrain’s Embassy in the United Kingdom has filed a report with the UK authorities after a British MP became victim to harassment from protesters camped outside the Embassy.

The protesters led by fugitive Ali Mushaima were accused of harassment in the report filed by the Embassy. According to the Embassy, forceful verbal and physical harassment, threats, and acts of bullying have been some of the tactics used by the group. The group has been protesting outside the embassy claiming that medical treatment was refused to his Ali’s father Hassan Mushaima. The claim was debunked numerous times by the Bahrain authorities who stated that Hassan was at fault for missed medical appointments because he declined to attend the appointments as he refused to cooperate with prison rules.

“The Embassy is sorry to hear about the harassment and intimidation of Rehman Chishti and deplores attempts by so-called protestors outside its building to prevent its visitors from carrying out their business. The incident has been reported to UK authorities,” the embassy stated. “Forceful verbal and physical harassment, threats, and acts of bullying are absolutely unacceptable. This is, unfortunately, the latest is a series of consistent pattern of behavior that goes go far beyond any legitimate freedom of expression.”
