Alcoholic dad loses children custody plea
The High Appeals Court rejected the appeal filed by a man to win his custody rights over his children from his separated wife.
The children are in their mother’s custody following a court ruling after the parents got divorced. However, the father appealed the court’s decision with the Sharia Court which rejected his plea.
The woman’s lawyer Huda Al Sha’er had revealed to judges at the High Appeals Court that the father was alcoholic and on several occasions, he even asked his sons to bring the beer bottles to him from the refrigerator.
“This is against our custom. The children won’t be safe with him, because he is always drunk,” Ms Al Sha’er told the court earlier. “The mother won the custody case earlier because she has the required environment to raise the children according to our customs, contrary to their father,” she added.
