Bolstering historic ties

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Thursday visited Bahrain National Museum, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

They were received upon arrival to the museum by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and senior BACA officials.

HM the King and President El Sisi held cordial talks which centered on strong historic relations binding Bahrain and Egypt. HM the King then hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the Egyptian leader and the accompanying delegation. The two leaders then toured the Bahrain National Museum and were briefed by (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa on the exhibition and photos showcasing the unique Pearl Trail, which features on the Unesco list of World Heritage Sites.

It is also the cornerstone of efforts aimed at renovating the old town in the governorate of Muharraq. The Pearl Trail exhibition, being held at the Bahrain National Museum, showcases the envisioned architectural site through miniatures, photos, studies conducted on the project.

Shaikha Mai stressed the BACA drive to implement the directives of HM the King to document Bahrain’s longstanding culture and civilization and protecting them as a source of inspiration for future generations.
