Reckless driver’s sentence replaced with social service

The Lower Criminal Court has accepted to replace a three-month jail sentence issued against a Bahraini driver for causing the death of a fellow national with a six month social service.

The defendant is said to have been driving his car recklessly before crashing it into the victim’s car while trying to change lanes on King Hamad Road.

The latter died at the scene after succumbing to his injuries. According to court files, the defendant was driving at a very high speed.

Investigations revealed that his car had no insurance and its registration had expired. The accused was put on trial on charges of causing the death of the victim, driving carelessly and driving an uninsured and unregistered car.
