Plans on to form new bloc for upcoming elections
A group of former MPs, municipal councils and activists are planning to form a new bloc to contest the upcoming elections, it emerged. Sources say the group plans to contest elections in all the four governorates while also providing support to candidates who are contesting outside the bloc.
According to our sister paper Al Ayam, consultations and meetings are being held between many former MPs and activists to launch the bloc. “Once things are finalised, the bloc will come up with a clear roadmap on contesting the elections. And this will be followed by the list of candidates who will contest elections,” sources said.
The plan is to form a bloc that will represent all citizens, bring all political and independent forces under one umbrella, it is learnt. According to sources, the people behind the move are Abdul Hadi Marhoun, who served as the member of the parliament in the period 2002-2006, Yusuf Albori, former head of Northern Governorate municipal council (2006- 2010) and Yusuf Zainal, who is set to contest from the ninth constituency of the Northern Governorate
