Verdict date set in murder case
The High Appeals Court has set September 25, 2018, as the date for announcing its verdict in the case of a Bahraini man convicted of beating his girlfriend to death in his Hamad Town house.
The 31-year-old Bahraini was sentenced to life in prison by the High Criminal Court in March last year after he was convicted of murdering Iman Al Hayki.
The High Appeals Court upheld the verdict in November, but Bahrain’s Cassation Court sent the case back for a new trial.
The 25-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted using a cleaver and a screwdriver before she was strangled to death on May 27, 2016.
