Gold merchant falls prey to robbers again!
Manama
A gold merchant got the shock of his life when he was robbed for the second time in the broad daylight. The robbery took place while he was returning from his shop at gold souq in Manama around 1.30pm.
According to sources, there were two people in the gang. Robbers, who had been closely following the gold merchant, snatched the bag before fleeing the spot, the sources said.
The same gold merchant fell prey to robbers about six months ago. A gang of four people looted his valuables worth BD40,000 that time. He was then attacked with an iron rod and was seriously injured.
After that incident, his wife used to accompany him while leaving the shop. But, according to the sources, this time his wife was not present at the spot when the robbers struck.
Police officials immediately rushed to the spot and carried out necessary investigations, sources added. The gold traders had recently said they had been running a risky business since a lot of criminals were keeping an eye on them. Entire jewellery trade, which involves almost 500 jewellers, takes place between three to four blocks in Manama. One of the gold merchants had also requested the officials to increase security in the area.
