Verdict on fake note gang’s plea soon

An expatriate couple and two Asian men, who were part of a counterfeiting gang, will learn their fate as their appeal will be heard on September 25, 2018.

The defendants were earlier sentenced to three years behind bars each for using fake American dollars. The four defendants include a German national man, and his ex-wife, a Belarusian woman, as well as a Bangladeshi man and a Pakistani man. They were put on trial after the Belarusian woman got arrested for trying to buy some items from a major hypermarket in a local mall using a fake $100 currency note.

The rest of the defendants except the Pakistani man fell into the police net following investigations into the case. According to court files, the German man bought $2000 worth fake notes from the Pakistani man for BD270. And it was the Bangladeshi man who introduced the Pakistani suspect to the German accused, court files revealed.
