WHO lab tests measles and rubella

World Health Organization (WHO) lab at the Public Health Department tested for measles and rubella. During an inspection visit, a group of consultants and specialists from the WHO’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta commenced the elimination of measles procedures in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the Public Health’s laboratory of microbiology and emerging infectious diseases, the delegation ensured the readiness of the laboratory to follow up the cases of measles and methods of analysis to access the latest technologies. The technologies are used for rapid screening and accurate causes of measles and rubella.
After reviewing all aspects of the test and the results, the public health lab was accredited as a national laboratory for testing measles and rubella.Health Minister Sadiq Al Shehabi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the public health management and health staff of the Public Health Laboratory in Bahrain.
Assistant Undersecretary for Primary Care and Public Health Dr. Mariam Al Jalahma confirmed the level of efficiency and readiness excelled by the Public Health Laboratory. The recognition of international experts shows that the results from the local lab and international lab match 100 per cent. Dr. Jalahma stressed that the public health laboratory was qualified and trained to carry out all the tests with accuracy. “The adoption of the Public Health Laboratory for testing measles and rubella is the result of the tireless efforts of the Ministry to combat the disease.”
Director of the Department of Public Health Dr. Mariam Al Hajri confirmed that the WHO delegation had expressed satisfaction in the disciplined workflow of the laboratory.
