Call to make first aid classes must for applicants of driver’s licences

A call has gone out to make classes on life-saving skills compulsory for new applicants of driver’s licences.

Hundreds die after suffering injuries in accidents every day across the world and many deaths can be avoided if first aid is administered properly, observed Dr Fawzi Amin, the General-Secretary of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS).

His remarks come in light of increasing deaths caused by accidents across the Gulf countries.

“About 25 million people get killed annually in road accidents across the world and it is very much important to raise awareness on first aid apart from building skills for effective and quick response to crisis,” he said, adding that the essence of relief and humanitarian work is to save lives.
