Bahraini women ‘excelling in all fields’

The presence of four Bahraini women in this year’s Forbes Middle East’s Most Influential Women list reflects the high levels achieved by the Kingdom in empowering women, a leading businesswoman observed. Bahrain Businesswomen Society President Ahlam Janahi told Tribune that Bahraini women continue to improve and excel in all fields, underlining the key role played by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) to empower Bahraini women.

She thanked the Kingdom’s leadership for the endless support offered towards empowering Bahraini women. The list features 100 female executives, businesswomen as well as top government officials. For the very first time, the annual list included successful expat female leaders who have scaled heights in their careers.

Y K Almoayyed and Sons Managing Director and Bahrain Business Women Society former president Mona Almoayyed came in the eighth place while Batelco’s Deputy CEO Muna Al Hashemi, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company CFO Suha Karzoon and Securities and Investment Company CEO Najla Al Shirawi came in 15th, 41st, and 87th positions, respectively. The list included women leaders from different fields, such as culture, education, transportation, and economic development. It was also noticed that 29 women in the list hold leading positions in the banking sector, proving that women are leading this key sector in the region. The list also included 50 female ministers from Middle Eastern countries.

Amongst them is Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, UAE Minister for Culture and Knowledge Development. Senior government officials on the list include Sarah Al Suhaimi, CEO of Tadawul and Lobna Helal, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Egypt.
