Message to youth: spread peace, set an example
Manama
On the occasion of International Youth Day, young leaders and social activists in the Kingdom have advised the youngsters to ‘set an example’ to neighbouring middle eastern nations promoting ‘peace’ in Bahrain and the Middle East .
They emphasized the role of Bahraini youth in the development and wellbeing of the nation and the region.
Speaking to DT News, Bahrain Youth Society Board Member Ahmed Buhasan said that the youth, being the future of Bahrain, have a responsibility of promoting peace and ensuring stability in the nation.
“Keeping in mind the events in the Middle East, our youth has the opportunity to set an example to others. They can achieve peace within Bahrain as well as help spread peace in the Middle East and the rest of the world. They should not be disheartened by the wars and fighting going on in the region. Instead, they should work towards the betterment of the world. They can spread the message of peace using social media,” he said.
He added that young Bahrainis are on the right path and they can improve.
“They are doing well so far and they are aware of the role they need to play. They are using the social media in the right manner. They use it for business, socializing and on other positive aspects, but they can still do more. I believe they can make immense contributions for Bahrain and create a bright future for the Kingdom,” he added.
Sharing a similar view, Social Activist and Bahrain Youth Society Board Member Mahmood AlBalooshy said that Bahraini youth should be true to their culture and religion.
“We are raised on a religion in which peace is a core value. So they should strive to make their environment, peaceful, safe and secure. All the unusual actions that happened in this region are extraneous and not from our religion or culture. However, we should stand up against these threats in every possible way and show the world the real truth about us,” AlBalooshy said.
He advised youngsters to use social media wisely as it plays a vital role in spreading news and shaping opinions.
“I strongly believe that the Bahraini youth are at an advanced stage in both activeness and achievements. The international participation and achievements of Bahraini youth in many fields, indicates and measures the maturity of our youth toward developing our country and themselves,” he added.
He also advised youth to come out of their comfort zone.
Social activist and Youth City Media Committee Head Abdallah ElHamy said that in order to help the nation or to help build peace in the Middle East, the youth has to focus on self-improvement in every field.
“First, they have to discover themselves. They need to have motivation to become better. They need to take up challenges and gain new experiences by volunteering and being proactive,” he said.
Meanwhile, he added that Youth City 2030 had several special activities to mark the International Youth Day.
“We awarded the volunteers and all the those who worked for Youth City 2030 with special prices and certificates. We have had lecture for the students on how they can improve themselves. We also had elections where the students were able to elect the leaders among themselves,” he added.
