Bahrain’s health sector developing constantly: PM
New York : Bahrain is working constantly in accordance with a comprehensive system to upgrade the quality of its health and medical sector through various initiatives, affirmed HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, yesterday. Several steps have been taken in this direction, HRH the Prime told the United Nations General Assembly on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), which includes the approval of the National Health Plan for the years 2016-2025 to promote healthy lifestyles in the society.
These remarks were made at the UN Council by Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, who addressed the third high-level meeting of the UN Assembly on behalf of the Prime Minister in New York. He said that Bahrain has succeeded in achieving all the health-related Millennium Development Goals after agreeing to the new global plan entitled “Transforming Our World: the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan” which consists of 17 targets and 169 targets.
The National Health Plan, HRH PM said, aims to achieve quality health services and ensures their financing and sustainability. His Royal Highness further affirmed that the Kingdom is keen to combine all efforts and integrate them into a unified plan. The plan promotes preventive and curative aspects of healthcare, strengthen research as well as community participation to prevent and reduce the infection rate.
“We in the Kingdom of Bahrain support all global efforts in the fight against various diseases. We reaffirm our commitment to the implementation of the World Declaration on the Control of Non-Communicable Diseases,” said HRH the Prime Minister. The Premier also called on the international community to join hands to eliminate various diseases and develop strategies and operational plans to work towards the implementation of the sustainable development goals in this regard.
