Generate more jobs

The Cabinet yesterday chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, at Gudaibiya Palace, urged the private sector to generate more jobs.

HRH the Premier directed the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to launch more initiatives that would attract Bahrainis to decent jobs in the private sector, stressing the need to increase coordination with the private sector to ensure that its training programmes are based on real requirements.

The session was informed that the employment scenario during the first half of this year is progressing steadily in the private sector due to the stability in the labor market and as a result of the new investments. The Labour Minister’s report showed an increase in the rate of the national workforce in the private sector by 2.4 percent during the first half of this year compared with the same period of 2017.

Figures indicated that a total of 12,000 Bahrainis had been recruited by the private sector during the first half of 2018. It also revealed that the unemployment rate had remained at 4.1 percent and that 3,400 citizens had benefitted from the training programmes offered by the Ministry. Among other things, the Cabinet gave directives to continue efforts aimed at providing the best high-quality services for the elderly to ensure a decent life for them, in recognition of their role in building the nation and society
