Huawei puts spotlight on 5G, Smart Safe City

Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, hosted the inaugural “Huawei Day Bahrain 2018” yesterday under the theme ‘Building a Fully Connected, Intelligent Kingdom’ at Wyndham Grand Manama.

The event was held on the sidelines of Bahrain Technology Week 2018, organised by the Economic Development Board Bahrain. Kamal Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, delivered a keynote at the forum stressing the contribution for Bahrain’s position as one of the global leaders in the sector by deploying commercial 5G services and enhancing readiness for next-generation ICT services such as the internet of things and machine-to-machine communication.

The event was also attended by Chinese Ambassador in Bahrain Anwaer, Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), Dr Simon Galpin, Managing director of Bahrain Economic Development Board, Prof. Riyad Y Hamzah, President of University of Bahrain, partners, key media outlets representatives, in addition to around 300 audiences in the ICT field.

Commenting on Huawei Day Bahrain 2018, Lu Yuedong, Huawei Bahrain CEO said, “Truly the intelligent era is coming. Emerging technologies like 5G, IoT, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence will soon see a large-scale commercial application. Let’s work together to bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, smart kingdom of Bahrain.”

Huawei’s global chief public safety scientist Hong-Eng Koh said with its large global partners’ ecosystem and end-toend public safety ICT platforms, Huawei can be a strategic partner of Bahrain to build a fully connected intelligent Kingdom.
