Companies told to remain proactive in adopting ICT

Companies and organizations in Bahrain can no longer put off implementing the latest technologies if they want to be successful and they must also be proactive in adopting the latest in ICT, according to the expert consensus from a top tech summit held in the Kingdom recently.

Technological solutions have come a long way and it’s about time for businesses here to take full advantage of it, according to a number of experts who spoke at the BBK EmTech Summit held over the past two days. According to the experts, Bahrain also needs to see more innovation and original ideas rather than importing innovative solutions.

Organized by the BBK, in collaboration with Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) the summit, held under the theme “Technology that Changes the Paradigm”, shed light on the importance of Emerging Technologies (EmTech). “Historically what has happened is that it was the IT department alone that had this affiliation with technology. I think in the world that we live in right now, technology should be permeating to all levels of the organization.

I think the modus operandi has to change completely. The concept of technology also ties in well with the concept of agility and I think in this day and age of disruption, agility is very important. So things should be happening not only in the IT departments but there should be big changes across the organizations, technology should permeate to business units, permeate to branches at all different levels,” said Khalid Saad, CEO of Bahrain FinTech Bay.
