Bahrain to host jazz fest

Bahrain’s second international jazz festival which will feature nine international and local jazz artists and musicians is set to take place on October 26. The open-air jazz festival, organized by the Royal Golf Club, Clockwork and BMMI, will be held at the Royal Golf Club golf course and is expected to draw more than 3,000 jazz music enthusiasts from Bahrain and the region.

The festival will feature internationally acclaimed acts such as Cut Capers (UK), Ala Ghawas (Bahrain), Swing Ninjas (UK), Likwid (Bahrain), The Kiffness (South Africa), Indian Ocean (India), Havaneros (Bahrain), Avalon Jazz Band (France), Ana Popovic (US). The Bahrain Jazz fest, if approached by a sustainable community, will serve as a platform for musicians and will host a series of jazz workshops and local music events at various venues leading up to the openair festival on October 26.

The family-friendly event that starts at 11 am and closes by 11 pm is open to all ages and will host activities for the whole family such as interactive children’s tents, food trucks, corporate hospitality areas, activation zones and all day markets. Festival Principal and Clockwork Managing Partner Jude D’Souza told The Daily Tribune, “We are pleased to host Bahrain’s second international jazz festival, following a very successful inaugural edition last year, attended by 3,500 people. We would like to thank our corporate partners for their support in making the Bahrain Jazz Fest one of the most unique events for the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

She said that the initiative, backed by the Bahrain EDB and BTEA, will be an annual driver for tourism in the Kingdom and also a contributor to the promotion of local music talent.
