Bahraini start-ups ‘finding success in global journeys’
Bahraini ‘homegrown success stories’ are starting to get noticed in the international arena now more than ever, according to a top government official. While Bahrain has continued to impress in terms of FDI, thanks to its progressive business-friendly reputation, there have been question marks about how capable the businesses from the country are to go beyond the borders of the Island to venture into the regional and international market.
However, changes are now coming along as Bahraini startups are finding success outside the kingdom, according to EDB Managing Director Simon Galpin. “There are some really good Bahraini homegrown success stories that are starting to get noticed whether it’s Skiplino or One GCC or the food delivery companies that are starting up.
“What is happening in the Startup eco-system is really starting to get noticed, what’s happening in the FinTech space is starting to get recognized. We do have a responsibility to all get behind and be cheerleaders for the start-ups that are emerging out the ecosystem,” he said. He added that Bahrain’s small size gives the country an advantage in certain ways.
