Pipe removal in the pipeline

The oil pipeline along Wali Al Ahd Highway near Riffa will be removed by the last quarter of 2019, according to Works Ministry sources. The move comes within the plan to develop and expand the vital highway, the sources say.

It also follows the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) announcing the completion of work on the new Bahrain-Saudi oil pipeline. The completion of the new pipeline comes as per the instructions of the Higher Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Security, headed by the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

A source within the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry confirmed to Tribune that the project to give the highway a facelift has not been included in the ministry’s work plan yet, but it’s expected to be approved soon and will be implemented using the GCC funds.

The new pipeline between both kingdoms began operating on October 3 this year, weeks after successful testing processes that were carried out to ensure the safety of the movement of the crude oil between Saudi Arabia and the refinery in Bahrain.
