Man fined BD50 for issuing dud cheque
The Lower Criminal Court has fined a Bahraini man BD50 for issuing a dud cheque. The defendant is said to have issued a cheque for BD15,000 to another citizen as part of an agreement with him to purchase a BD195,000 house.
The cheque was handed over as a down payment, but the deal stated that the seller could cash it if the defendant fails to obtain a bank loan to buy the property. “I told him (the plaintiff ) my loan proposal got rejected, but he began threatening me asking for BD10,000 or else he would go to the bank and present the cheque. I could not obtain the loan and he presented the cheque.”
