Parent alleges corporal punishment at Northern Governorate school
A parent has alleged that his son, an elementary student at a public school in the Northern Governorate, was beaten up very badly by his teacher. The teacher is accused of using violent methods to punish the students including beating them using hose. The man said the incident took place a few days ago and his son was crying out of pain as he came home in the afternoon. “My son was beaten up for talking to his friend while classes were on.”
The very next day, both parents approached the principal of the school and filed a complaint. Another complaint was also filed through the official website of the Education Ministry. “This is simply unacceptable. I am not saying my son is totally innocent but his safety is of prime importance to me. “My son’s body was full of swellings and injury marks and he is also mentally depressed after the incident. The teacher also verbally insulted him and his friend in front of other students.
