Imam murder main suspect ‘mentally fit’
A mental evaluation confirmed that the suspected mosque imam murderer is responsible for his actions, while the High Criminal Court decided that it will issue its ruling on October 31, 2018. The 35-year-old Bangladeshi defendant admitted earlier to murdering Bahraini imam Abduljaleel Hamood before the High Criminal Court.
He appeared before the High Criminal Court alongside another man accused in the case. However, the latter, also from Bangladesh, pleaded not guilty, stating that he wasn’t aware of his co-defendant’s intention to murder. According to the prosecution, the suspect killed the imam by hitting him with an iron rod in the head. He then cut the imam’s body into pieces along with the co-defendant before dumping it in plastic bags near the scrapyard in Askar, according to sources.
