Restaurateurs warned over flouting gas cylinder rules

The authorities in the Capital are putting in fresh efforts to ensure that the restaurants are not flouting rules and regulations with regard to the use of gas cylinders.

The move follows a gas cylinder explosion and subsequent collapse of a three-story building in the Salmaniya area, which left four dead and over 30 injured over a week ago. Speaking to Tribune, Capital Trustees Board Chairman Mohammed Al Kozaee said, “A joint meeting was held yesterday at the Capital Governate, which was chaired by Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of Capital Governorate.

“The meeting highlighted the issues officials need to closely work on especially with regard to the irregularities concerning gas cylinders. “Restaurants need to realise that the gas cylinders shouldn’t be left on the roads and be kept in a state, which is exposed to the public, as it can be a cause of any future accident.
