Three women sentenced for running vice network

The Lower Criminal Court has held three women guilty of running a prostitution network, including a GCC national who was handed down five years in prison. The other two are Bahrainis; one of them was given three years behind bars, while the third one was ordered to be admitted to the Psychiatric Hospital.

According to court files, the network ran the illegal business for a period of two years (in 2013 and 2014) and the GCC woman was the mastermind of the ring. It’s said that she transformed her personal apartment into a prostitution den, encouraging the second and third defendants to have sex with strangers in exchange for money.

They were allegedly charging costumers BD50 each, of which BD20 would go to the Arab woman. Her activities were exposed after the third defendant was arrested in a different prostitution case. She revealed to prosecutors that it was the Arab woman who encouraged her to take up prostitution as a profession.

“I knew the first defendant four years ago through her daughter. And she encouraged me to become a prostitute so that I would be paid BD30 for each client and I accepted the deal,” the third defendant told prosecutors.
