Police break up drug peddling ring

The High Criminal Court sentenced three Asian men to life in jail and BD5000 fine each for forming a drug peddling network. The men, according to court files, were selling all types of drugs, but the heroin dominated their activities. The suspects’ activities came to light following an investigation into a tip-off received by police.

Following an investigation, police caught the first suspects with 50 narcotic pills containing heroin. Another 228 pills containing the same substance was later seized by police from a wardrobe in his house following a raid. “I was buying 10 narcotic pills for BD1000,” the first suspect confessed during interrogation saying that he received it from another man.

He also offered to capture the second man red-handed. Investigators then conducted a sting operation, with the help of the first suspect, and arrested the second suspect. The third suspect was arrested from the second suspect’s house from where police seized narcotic pills worth BD300,000.
