Iran ‘to feel more pain than ever’ as sanctions take effect on Nov 4

The sanctions being placed on Iran by the US this time will hurt the country more when compared to previous sanctions, opined a top US expert at the Manama Dialogue.

Imposing sanctions will have a strong effect in deterring Iran’s ambitions of interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbouring countries, said General (retd) David Petraeus, Chairman KKR Global Institute and Former Director Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the US. He was speaking during the first plenary session which was held as part of the Manama Dialogue.

Other speakers during the session included League of Arab States Secretary-General Dr. Ahmed Abo El Gheit, Gulf Research Centre Chairman Dr. Abdulaziz Sager, and The National Editor-In-Chief Mina Al Oraib.

“The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action made with Iran did not really materialize as hoped. Iran did not halt its malign activities in the region, in fact, cases actually increased over the years and the missile programme became more threatening. “The US administration after hesitating for some time decided to reimpose the sanctions. The final and the most significant sanctions are the ones to come into effect on November 4th.
