Loyalty declaration gets warm response

More than 60,000 residents of Bahrain belonging to different nationalities, religions and political affiliations have signed a declaration pledging loyalty to Bahrain’s leadership. 

They affirmed their loyalty to Bahrain and denounced Iranian intervention in Bahrain’s internal affairs in a campaign by Bahrain Association for Religious Coexistence and Tolerance. The campaign is being held from August 7 to 21. 

Noting that the campaign was a huge success, Chairman of the Association Yousif Buzaboon said, “It was about manifesting the world about the strength of unity in Bahrain.” 

He added that the signatures would be sent to HM the King as well as the United Nations. Numerous mosques, churches, temples and various public places were utilized to receive the signatures. “Community leaders and religious leaders accepted our idea. They allowed us to set up centres in the religious buildings and community centres,” Buzaboon explained. “The response from the people was fantastic. They were so eager to sign the declaration. In fact, I was flabbergasted to know how passionate expatriates were for the Kingdom. They were just enthusiastic for Bahrain as much as the Bahrainis. We covered all areas equally,” said an elated Buzaboon. “There are only a small percentage of people, who cause nuisance. Majority of people in Bahrain are peace loving.” 

The declaration is a 90-word document titled ‘Loyalty to His Majesty The King’. The excerpts from the declaration stated: “Based on our patriotic responsibility and in assurance of our refusal to the interference in the Kingdom’s internal affairs by Iran, we hereby proudly announce our full support and loyalty to the wise political Bahraini leadership. We do hereby announce our full loyalty to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to fulfill our duties with dedication and loyalty.”
