KHK fighters thank Shaikh Khalid
Fighters of the newly formed KHK Mixed Martial Arts team has yesterday thanked Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Vice Chairman and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his initiative in forming the team.
Eight professionals and 14 amateur fighters recently signed for the newly formed MMA team. The fighters thanked Shaikh Khalid for being the driving force behind the initiative and for playing a crucial role in the development of MMA in the Middle East and the world.
The team comprises of a group of upcoming talents as well as established professionals who have taken part in competitions organized by leading international organisations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). They will represent KHK in international competitions as well as help groom local talents.
The professional fighters include Alexandro ‘Extremo’ Soto, Islam Makhachev, Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov, Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres, Frans Mlambo, Eldar Eldarov and Bahraini duo Mohammed 'The Hawk' Shahid and Hamza Alkooheji. Apart from the fighters, Irish MMA coach John Kavanagh and other international veteran coaches have also joined the team. Hassan Ayad, Naji Mohammed, Hamza Zareerah, James Gregor, Isa Mohammed, Ibrahim Ibrahimi, Abada Al Mulla, Atif Mohamed, Hussein Ayad, Abdelaziz Monjahry, Maitham Ahmed, Abdulla Cena, Fahad Abdelrazaq and Mohammed Adnan, make up the list of Amateur fighters.
Kooheji said that working with his new teammates is a dream come true. "I would like to thank Shaikh Khalid for giving us this opportunity to meet and work with fighters that I have been looking up to since I was young," he said. "I just feel very happy to be part of this team. I will do everything to help the team, especially the amatuer team who has earned their spot, I will guide them." said Alex Soto.
After thanking Shaikh Khalid, Nurmagomedov expressed his delight at having joined the team. "I am very happy that I have joined this team. I believe that this team can achieve great heights with all the talented fighters we have." he said.
