Anti-chemical weapons committee holds meeting

The National Committee on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons held its fourth meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ General Court, under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa.

The members of the committee representing various ministries and government bodies took part in the meeting. The National Committee discussed the topics on the agenda and reviewed the outcomes of participating in the 62nd Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference held in Vienna.

They also reviewed the outcomes of the workshop organized in the Kingdom in cooperation with the Committee’s Group of Expert, established pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1540/2004 on Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) with the participation of the National Committee’s members and representatives from all concerned ministries and government bodies.

The UN Committee expressed their pleasure to have been invited by the Kingdom to this workshop, which aims to identify its mechanisms and the necessary measures needed to implement the resolution, all of which confirms the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen existing cooperation with international organizations.
