Foreign Ministry creates central e-register

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has created a Central Electronic Register, containing texts of all conventions, agreements and memoranda of understanding that Bahrain has inked with all world countries and regional and international organizations. It also classified them in Arabic and other foreign languages according to the geographical location of the country, the date of signature and the period of validity.

The move comes in implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister in this regard. On this occasion, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote government work in line with the vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030, guided by the principles of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She pointed out the importance of boosting the level of cooperation between the kingdom’s ministries as the preservation of such texts in accordance with the highest standards of preservation and confidentiality would benefit all competent authorities in the Kingdom.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the establishment of this register was in line with the policy adopted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance the use of technology in the services it provides to the citizens and government agencies alike. This achievement, she added, is one of the objectives set by the Ministry in view of maximizing the use of technology to keep up with government aspirations and guidance in relation to the shift towards digital work that would raise the efficiency of government work and speed up services delivery.

Dr. Shaikha Rana noted that the Central Electronic Register, which includes a record of agreements dating back to over half a century, chronicles the Kingdom of Bahrain’s relations of cooperation and friendship with brotherly and friendly countries. She pointed out the classification of more than 800 agreements and memorandums of understanding so far in this record according to the latest standards of conservation and follow-up.
