BD5,000 worth jewellery burgled from villa in Zinj

Around BD5,000 worth jewelry was burgled from a two-story villa in Zinj on Friday night. Sources said the expat family of four, which lives in the villa, was away when the burglary occurred.

Police officials have begun a probe into the incident, it is learned. Speaking to Tribune, Pradeep, head of the family, said they were taking part in a Diwali party on Friday night.

“We were away for nearly six hours and returned by 11.45 pm. We were shocked to see that someone had broken into the house and made off with jewelry worth around BD5,000.” He said the burglars would have entered the house through the window of a bathroom located on the top floor.

“They made off with my daughter’s ornaments. Scattered wardrobe and other items suggested that they would have carried out a thorough search before leaving the home.”
