Iraq nationals lose pleas in passport forgery case
Three Iraqi men convicted in a passport forgery case have had their jail sentences upheld by the High Appeals Court. They were earlier sentenced to three years behind bars each.
A Bahraini man was earlier held guilty along with them but was acquitted on appeal. Five men were tried in the case, including the three Iraqi appellants.
The Iraqis were charged with forgery and providing bribes while the Bahraini man was accused of forging passports. The fifth suspect, a Bahraini, who remains at large was the mastermind behind the forgery, according to court documents.
