Safety rules warning
Builders have been warned against attempting to bypass safety rules when constructing buildings. Authorities have warned builders and owners that any violations in safety measures while constructing buildings would be taken very seriously. Directorate of Civil Defence Protection and Safety Division Head Col Sa’ad Hassan Al Naimi said everyone has to follow set guidelines while constructing the buildings, failing which they wouldn’t be given completion and occupancy certificates.
“Safety is paramount. There are, therefore, several steps that builders, designers, engineers, and contractors must follow before the building is certified fit for occupancy,” Col Al Naimi was quoted as saying in Interior Ministry’s publication Al Amn. He said the process is lengthy and painstaking. “We give the recommendations and then make sure they are all followed. It is only then that the completion certificate is given.”
