Russian Educational Initiative to Create Bright Sparks at Youth City

Manama

Russian Ambassador Vagif Garaev yesterday visited the science classes at Youth City, Bahrain Exhibition Centre. He was welcomed by President of the Riyada Group of Companies Shaikha Dheya bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, President of Green Supply Communications (GSC) and Co-founder of Trime Media Khalid Ali Salem, and  Riyada Group advisor Sergei Svetkov.

Both the organisations partnered together to introduce the Voltio company in Bahrain. Voltio is a Russian initiative that presents the world of electronic engineering through a series of workshops based on digital electronics and microcontroller programming.

The "2030 Youth City" initiative, which is organised by the General Organization for Youth and Sports (GOYS), provides workshops and training programmes that develop leadership skills, promote creativity and encourage young talent.

The programmes focus on media, information technology, sciences, arts and languages. Voltio would play a vital role upgrading the science programmes at the Youth City. Shaikha Dheya said, “Cooperation between Russia and Bahrain is needed in seeding educational programmes. One of the primary objectives of the Riyada Group is to enhance such programmes and pave the way for future business”.

Voltio is the first Russian project aimed at creating a full-scale platform for the training in electronics, beginning at school level. Voltio enables electronic engineering to be easily integrated into schools and colleges, thereby providing Bahrain with a foundation of electronic engineering education.

Khalid Ali Salem stated, “I believe Voltio has great potential as a school-level educational programme. It can be integrated into the Bahraini educational curricula, where it would provide valuable hands-on experience for students”.

Shaikha Dheya and Salem thanked Minister of Youth & Sports Affairs Hisham Mohammed Al Jowder, for his continuous support of enterprising youth initiatives under the leadership and reforms of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
