Bahraini man cleared of $6m burglary charge

The Lower Criminal Court has acquitted a Bahraini man of burgling jewellery and other items worth $6m from his ex-business partner.

The latter and the defendant were partners in a jewellery and antique shop, but they had to abandon it owing to growing debts, especially after the plaintiff was imprisoned in connection with a case.

The defendant, however, wanted to retry his luck in the same shop; therefore he re-rented and resumed his activities.

Meanwhile, the plaintiff was released from jail and directly accused his former partner of burglary. “When I was in jail he broke in my apartment and stole many valuables, including precious stones, gold jewellery, all of which worth a total amount of $6m.

Many antiques and unique alcoholic bottles that are very expensive have disappeared from my home,” the plaintiff said.
