INDONESIAN COMMUNITY, EMBASSY CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY

In a colourful ceremony decked with delicious culinary delights, the Indonesian Embassy held a flag hoisting ceremony, marking Indonesia's Independence Day on yesterday. 

The celebrations started at 7 am from the residence of the Ambassador in Mahooz.  It was attended by Indonesian Embassy's staffs and the Indonesian community in Bahrain.

Indonesian Ambassador to Baharin Chilman Arisman conveyed messages from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to all Indonesian on the occasion of this national day.

The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by a "Tumpeng" cutting ceremony. "Tumpeng" is a cone-shaped, yellow rice dish. Its side dishes symbolize the Indonesia’s, unity, protection, safety and blessing from God Almighty. The national day reception will be held on September 10 in Radisson-Blue Hotel.

 Good wishes pour in for Indonesia

Meanwhile, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa congratulated the Indonesian President on his country's independence anniversary, wishing the Indonesian people further advancement and prosperity.

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa  also congatulated Joko Widodo and wished the Indonesian people further progress and development.

The US President Barack Obama conveyed best wishes to the Indonesian people yesterday. In a statement, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Indonesia’s thriving democracy, religious tolerance, diversity, and global leadership are fundamental to the country’s success, which serve an example for the Asia Pacific region and the world.

“The United States and Indonesia have made a long-term commitment to strengthen our bilateral partnership and address regional and global challenges. I look forward to building even closer ties between our governments when President Joko Widodo visits the United States later this year. We wish all Indonesians around the world a joyous celebration and peace and prosperity over the coming year,” Kerry said.
