Mosul terror attack condemned
Bahrain has condemned the terrorist attack that took place in the city of Mosul, Iraq, claiming lives of a number of people and injuring others, and extended its sincere sympathies for the families and relatives of the casualties. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed in a statement yesterday Bahrain’s solidarity with Iraq and support for all the measures it takes to maintain its security and stability.
The ministry stressed Bahrain’s firm stance against all forms of terrorism and called for concerted international efforts to eliminate the scourge of terrorism that jeopardizes international peace and security. Three people were killed in a car bombing in Mosul, the first such attack in the northern Iraqi city since it was liberated from IS last year.
The extremist group, which once controlled a cross-border “caliphate” home to millions of people, lost control of Mosul and the rest of its urban strongholds in 2017 but it has continued to wage guerilla-style attacks across Iraq. The car bomb detonated on Thursday night at a restaurant in the war-ravaged west of Iraq’s second city
