Over 3,000 run for charity
More than 3,000 runners representing over 200 teams took part in a marathon yesterday, helping to raise approximately BD50,000 to support various charities in the Kingdom.
The 37th edition of the Bahrain Marathon Relay (BMR) organized by The Bahrain Round Table and Rotaract Bahrain began at the Bahrain International Circuit and the event witnessed both professional and amateur runners taking part for a cause. Speaking to Tribune, member of BMR 2018 Organising Committee Hishang Kewalram, said, “The Bahrain Marathon Relay witnessed participation of over 200 teams and over 3,200 participants.
“The marathon which began years ago as a fun run with only a handful of teams has off today, become one of the largest charity sporting events in the Kingdom. “The organizers of the event are The Bahrain Round Table and Rotaract Bahrain; part of Rotary Club of Manama, Rotary Club of Sulmaniya and Rotary Club of Adliya. “It has raised approximately BD50,000 while giving a message about promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as contributing to the society.”
