Tackling rain havoc
The Cabinet chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday reviewed the steps taken by different ministries to tackle the ongoing rainy season.
HRH the Prime Minister was informed about the effects of unstable weather conditions and the heavy rain resulting from them, as well as about the actions taken by the relevant ministries and governmental entities through the National Disaster Management Committee.
In this regard, the Interior Ministry, in a presentation, shed light on the great efforts exerted by different departments, including the General Directorate of Civil Defence, to deal with all notifications and take the necessary procedures to deliver assistance to the citizens and residents.
In another presentation, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister highlighted his ministry’s efforts to deal with rain chaos, including the suction of floodwaters, stressing the readiness of all ministry’s bodies to deal with rain. The Education Minister also informed the session about the measures taken by the Education Ministry regarding some rain-affected schools. HRH the Premier was also informed about the actions taken to deal with the rain-affected regions.
The Premier gave directives to determine the schools that need immediate and urgent maintenance and to give them priority in the government buildings’ maintenance programme.
