In response to HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister’s directives to develop urgent solutions to ease traffic flow across the Kingdom, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has completed construction works to develop the Mahzoora Avenue interchange and Estiqlal Avenue. The works are part of the second phase of roads improvement to ease traffic congestions at vital intersections.

The Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam Khalaf noted that the project aims to enhance the traffic flow on Mahzoora Avenue which will contribute to easing traffic congestions, especially during peak times. It will also provide easy access for traffic turning right from Mahzoora Avenue leading towards Estiqlal Avenue.

The project also includes the development of five lanes, two lanes for turning left and two lanes for turning east towards Avenue 47 as well as one lane for turning right on Estiqlal Avenue. The minister pointed out that the number of drivers using the street daily reaches 50,000 at peak hours.

The finished project includes the improvement of existing street lighting, road and pavement paint surface markings in addition to protection of traffic paint markings affiliated with other services.
