Alba Interchange Project on track
The Alba Interchange lower flyover linking transporting traffic between the King Hamad Highway and Estiqlal Highway will be inaugurated in December 2018, as part of the festivities marking the national days. Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf announced the upcoming partial opening as he inspected progress of work on the infrastructure milestone.
He was accompanied by Undersecretary for Works Affairs Ahmed Al Khayyat, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Huda Fakhro, Road Projects and Maintenance Sayyed Badr Alawi, project director Majdi Mahfoudh. Ghazi Nass also attended as representative of the Consortium made up of Nass Company and KCC Engineering and Contracting, in addition to project consultant PARSONS.
The minister expressed his delight at the overall progress of work on the Alba Interchange project which reached so far 85 per cent, describing the milestone as one of the biggest strategic schemes to upgrade the road network in the vital industrial, trade and housing zone. He announced that work would start soon on the first phase on the expansion of the Isa bin Salman Highway – in the section linking the Isa Town Flyover and the Map of Bahrain Intersection, to increase the smooth flow of traffic.
