Derasat, GCC Interconnection Authority sign agreement
The Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) has signed an agreement with the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA). Derasat Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalid sealed the deal with GCCIA Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Al Ibrahim. GCCIA Power Trade Senior Executive Chief Dr Mohammed Al Hamad attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement aims to bolster joint cooperation, exchange expertise, conduct studies and researches, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy and energy security. Dr Shaikh Abdulla welcomed cooperation with the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) towards achieving the desired goals in the framework of the 2030 Bahrain Economic Vision. He stressed the importance of promoting energy security as a vital cornerstone to strengthen sustainable development and bolster power interconnection.
He stressed Derasat-led drive to give priority to promote energy-related issues, achieve sustainable development and promote renewable energy and energy security. He underlined Bahrain’s drive, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to achieve the national goals related to sustainable development and renewable energy,” said Dr Shaikh Abdulla.
He briefed the GCCIA officials about the Derasat-led activities and functions, as well as efforts to promote the assessment of services, competence building and conduct researches and surveys. GCCIA Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Al-Ibrahim expressed at cooperating with the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), which is a considered as respectable think tank in the Middle East.
