Bahrain Declaration ‘most effective weapon’ against extremist elements

Board of Trustees Second Deputy Chairperson of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and President of This is Bahrain society Betsy Mathieson said the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration, which was launched in September 2017 in Los Angeles, the US, is still receiving international acclaim from all over the world.

Speaking on the sidelines of an open symposium hosted by the London School of Economics (LSE), in the British capital London, she described the declaration, with its enlightening ideas and wise royal visions, as the most effective weapon to combat extremism and terrorism in the world and boost moderation, tolerance, and peace.

She added that concordance of the declaration with various faiths, doctrines and ethnic groups worldwide makes it a beacon for nations to achieve peace and tolerance. She emphasized that Bahrain, throughout its history, has not only shown tolerance towards various religions on its land but also encouraged people to exercise their faiths freely and peacefully.

Prof Alessandro Saggioro of the King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence affirmed that the pioneering project launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa by allocating academic seats to promote the culture of peace, tolerance, and moderation in the world reflects HM the King’s keenness to transfer Bahrain’s distinguished experience in this respect to the whole world.
