Civil Defence issues rain alert

The General Directorate of Civil Defence yesterday announced some general safety instructions during unstable weather. In case the rainwater enters the house, the necessary items should be kept on the first floor and electricity should be disconnected, the directorate said.

“Individuals shouldn’t touch electrical appliances unless they are sure they are dry.” “They should use torches that work on batteries and report to concerned authorities. They should stay away from lampposts and electricity sources.” Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Traffic called upon drivers to follow traffic rules and be cautious of the rain by sticking to the speed limits and leave the safety distances between vehicles.

The Coast Guard called upon seafarers to avoid sailing or swimming during unstable weathers and to call 999 to report emergency cases. Though the first and second spells of showers caused damages across the Kingdom, the Southern Governorate was the most affected.
